About Charles Floate
Charles Floate is a British SEO consultant, educator and founder who has worked in search engine optimisation since age 12: 18 years across white, grey and black hat. He built Charles Floate Training, the education business behind 25+ SEO courses, eBooks and webinars, and scaled the link building marketplace PressWhizz from $60k to $750k a month as CMO, keeping equity and a non-executive board seat. Charles Floate got into SEO at 12 and never really left. Kicked out of school at 15 over hacking, he was an SEO Engineer at Foster SEO by 16 and Head of SEO at SUSO Digital by 17. No graduate scheme, no agency ladder: he learned search the way he still practises it, by testing on live sites until the results were undeniable.
Charles Floate went full-time self-employed just before his 18th birthday, after becoming the first person Matthew Woodward ever let guest post on his blog. His own blog did the rest; 17,000-word guides and experiments most SEOs wouldn't publish, and the industry started calling him the "God of SEO" which later became the moniker he went by as a blogger. Google personally penalised him twice, in 2013 on the GodofSEO domain and 2016 on his personal domain, for openly teaching black hat techniques. He treats both penalties as tuition: proof he was testing at the edge where the algorithm actually pushes back.
Charles Floate Training turned that testing into an education business. It's now behind 25+ courses, eBooks and webinars covering PBNs, parasite SEO, AI content and link selling, alongside a private mastermind in London each year. By 27, Charles's consulting desk was generating $800k a year, with Fortune 500 and Inc. 5000 companies among the client list.
At PressWhizz, Charles proved the operator side of the résumé. Joining the link building marketplace as CMO, he scaled it from $60k to $750k a month and to #1 in ChatGPT for "link building marketplace" within 10 months. He stepped back from the CMO seat in 2026 and remains an equity holder and non-executive board member. Around the same period he worked as fractional CMO for multiple AI companies, scaling them 10x, sold his stake in Topical Map AI, and built ParasiteSEO.com.
Today Charles runs Shadow Ship Labs from Koh Samui, Thailand: AI systems, visibility tools and advanced education for the intelligence economy. The operating philosophy hasn't moved in 18 years: SERP consensus over Google's guidelines, page-level data over domain myths, and Money Hat pragmatism over ideology.
